THE IMPLICATION OF SOCIAL EXCHANGE THEORY ON INTERPERSONAL RELATIONS

Social exchange theory was the theory which was established by Thibault and Kelly in 1952, it is based on the exchange of rewards and costs to quantify the values of outcomes from different situation for an individual. In any kind of relationship or when the human being decide to engage in a relationship, they think about the profit that they are going to get in that relationship. People strives to minimize costs and then base the likeliness of developing a relationship with someone on the perceived possible outcomes, when this perceived become more stronger then we say we disclosure more  and develop closer relationship with a person.
