The 'calmness Prayer' is powerful
statement of personal philosophy for our times.
"God, give us grace to accept
with calmness the things that cannot be changed, courage to change the things
which should be changed, and the wisdom to distinguish
the one from the other."
"God, grant me the calmness prayer to accept the things
that I cannot change; the courage to change the things that I can, and the wisdom
to know the difference."
For me Using "God," at the beginning and whether
to refer to the quote as a prayer I would say are optional depending on your
life and myth and for that matter it’s the philosophy that is important, not whether
attached to a particular religion.
"To waste, to destroy, our
natural resources, to hide and exhaust the land instead of using it so as to
increase its usefulness, will result in undermining in the days of our children
the very richness which we must by right to hand down to them improved and
developed."
Therefore from that calmness prayer
